Meet Crimson Fairy. Beautifully transplanted from New York City to the Verde Valley. Crimson Fairy is the alter ego of Stained Glass and Fused Glass Jewelry artist Karen Hammer. 

Karen released the fairy in 1996 after a few years working in the jewelry industry in New York City.  She uses many of the elements of jewelry making (and a little fairy dust), in her stained glass pieces.  The result is a line of glass work unlike any other.

While in New York, Karen also spent two years assisting  one of the top furniture restorers in the city who taught her the importance of fine craftsmanship.  This fine craftsmanship can be seen in her glass work, and recently, her Dichroic Glass and woven seed bead beaded jewelry.

Missing her connection to the natural world, in 2002 Karen moved to Arizona where she has hummingbird nests in the tree outside her Studio window and a roadrunner who visits her at lunch time.  She named him Gus.

"The Dichroic Glass cabachons are hand cut then fused in my kiln. I then attach the cabachon to a piece of ultra suede and hand create a glass seed beaded bezel which is then attached to another piece of ultra suede, finalizing the piece by hand sewing a beaded decorative edge."  Karen

All Necklaces are strung with fire polished glass beads and stone beads and close with a toggle.
