SedonaDogandCat.com is an online venue brought to you by Sedona Earth and Wind, LLC (S.E.W.) for the promotion of products, services, and commentary for pets and their people.  Created by community members of Sedona and the Verde Valley, these featured providers share a mutual respect for all life and the planet and offer a commitment to this philosophy by taking the S.E.W. pledge.  These pledges are made available to the consumer for viewing.

We offer the beauty and magic of Sedona and invite you to visit personally or vicariously through the adventures, thoughts, products and services we offer.

Who We Are, How We Got Here

Operating under Sedona Earth and Wind, LLC (S.E.W.), the SedonaDogandCat.com website offers to the world the spirit and magic of Sedona wrapped in the creative energies of the very people living here. 

Creator of Sedona Earth and Wind and SedonaDogandCat.com, Jan Wind has lived in Sedona since 2000. Raised in Orlando, Florida, living in the west was always a dream.  So, in 1994 Jeff and Jan with three dogs and a paraplegic cat left everything and everyone they ever knew and headed to Boulder, Colorado in the Rocky Mountains.

“For me, living in Boulder was to attend the University of Life. I learned about the mysteries of people, animals, and nature in ways I never expected.  With this newfound degree of knowledge, out into the world I went and landed in Sedona ready for a creative adventure.” Jan Wind   

Life in Sedona is about creativity. 

The creativity of the universe found in the red rocks and all their formations, the high desert landscapes, the winding creeks and rivers, the variety of rocks, plants, animals, insects ... and all, all this energy, concentrated in one incredible location. 

Being surrounded by beauty in so many different forms causes one to experience the urge, bubbling up inside, to create, to play, to go deeper within and find ones abilities.  

Loving all animals, nature, the environment, and being in a special place can have only one effect—you want to express your excitement and passion in some form of media.  Not surprising, a pad and pencil appeared and the drawings began to flow, hence, the Sedona Dog and Cat caricatures were created.  

The newfound ability to draw and the need to share a lifelong love for animals and for close friends and family came together in the form of a humorous pet lovers photo book.  The inspiration for the Sedona Dog and Cat photo book project came from a special dog, Annie, and special friends, Anita & Max. 

Annie joined the Wind’s in 1998 from the Longmont, Colorado Humane Society.  Unfamiliar with freedom, Annie dog learned to hike the mountains of the Indian Peaks Wilderness area, camp overnight in a tent, and hold her own against an attack by two pit bull dogs.  With this newfound sense of herself, she moved to Sedona riding shotgun in a moving truck accompanied by her favorite traveling buddy, Uncle Mike.  Also in the caravan were Holly dog, MowWow kitty, Khumbu kat and their people.  The Sedona Dog caricature, modeled after Annie dog and her little tail wrinkle, remains dedicated to her memory. 

Sedona Cat took its form from Khumbu kat.  His katness lives on today comfortably in Sedona.  A white sometimes long-haired beauty, with ice blue eyes (hence, the name Khumbu taken from the Khumbu ice fields of Mt. Everest) is deaf but not deterred.  On his way to the Boulder Humane Society, he joined the family and made the trip to Sedona, never complaining, walking on his leash at each rest stop, and using his litter box while in motion.   

The next step in the process, to show-case this incredible place called Sedona and its inhabitants to the world through a website devoted to animals, the environment and people. Voila! SedonaDogandCat.com was formed.
